Our story…

After 17 years as a Melbourne institution, Punch Lane is still "packing a punch". Named after the adjacent laneway our longevity is based on good old fashioned food, wine and service.

Dating back to the days when liquor licenses were limited, owner , Martin Pirc, invited patrons to enjoy a more European, flexible restaurant attitude and dining style. Punch Lane is proudly Melbourne and a favourite amongst theatre-goers and wine-lovers, who relish the opportunity to eat and drink at a venue which adapts to their moods and caters for formal ot informal experiences: whether it be a business lunch meeting, a quick pre-theatre dinner, after-work drinks and small share plates or just a seat at the bar with a book and a glass of wine.

Punch Lane houses an eclectic collection of furnishings and curios, amongst them a timber bar made from 100 year old jarrah, floorboards salavaged from an old basketball court in Healesville, hand-crafted wrought iron fixtures and red leather chairs that The Beatles sat in when they visted Australia in 1964.

Designes by acclaimed Melbourne architects, Jackson,Clements,Burrows, the alfresco dining area on Little Bourke Street provides the perfect aspect to sit and watch the world go by, and its clever design won the 2005 Urban Architecture Award.

With so much to offer, Punch Lane is set to impress anyone who is looking for a true Melbourne laneway gem...
